The Wicked, Wild-Eyed Women of Portabello Town
Sketching some pirates for an epic painting for an epic song by Emerson Lake and Palmer, which is based on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Disneyland. More to come.

And The Grackle Came...

Alex Krokus, who makes awesome animations and illustrations, also has this awesome band called Wood Spider, and this band has a song aptly named, "Our Monster Song", Which features the notorious and positively awful monster, The Grackle.
I thought way back when in 2009, that It'd be super fun to conceptualize this beastie, however I really didn't get around to it till recently.
I'm thinking about building a small portion of a concept art based portfolio around this story and character. I'm really, very excited about this!

Lets have some fun

Back the Drawing Board
I was asked to back track on my Wonka project and depart from my movie poster teasers. I started to expand upon my first idea. Showing here:

These are just two more sketches based on the first one.

I hope to eventually expand on the teaser posters, but for now I'm going to head back into the collage movie poster realm!

The Ingénue

A concept... er... thing for my Phantom picture book, based on the original Leroux novel.
It's Christine, in a dress inspired by Maria Bjornson's "Lost Dress"
Showing here:

Christine never wears it, but it is present in her dressing room.
It's nicknamed the "lost" dress because it is often lost in the background, hidden behind the dressing room door or in the shadows.

Beatles and Bison
Here are some recent projects I've finished!
I apologize for not updating with anything substantial in awhile.
These are projects for school, excluding Bison piece.

The lovely Beatles, Rendered in gouache. Our "Premier or Grand Opening" project.
I decided to depict the Beatles arrival in the states for the first time. :)

A few friends of mine and I were coming up with the various scenarios that went on in each others heads. Some of them were quite hilarious and were deemed worthy of an illustration. I will defiantly be doing more of these when I have the time. (This one will eventually be a hyper rendered oil painting as well.)
This is the mind of Alex Krokus (His blog can be viewed here:http://akrokus.blogspot.com/
In his mind, he is wild bison running merrily with giraffes as Old Glory flaps in the wind behind him.

Another piece for school. We had to design a beverage ad that advocated halloween parties and such.
I decided to base mine on the Dia de los Muertos celebration.
I started off with acrylic, and switched over to gouache. Oh dear, I need to escape from gouache.

A few things from my sketchbook I thought I'd share.

"I have three hours of Art History that I don't really need to pay attention to... How about a hyper rendered pen drawing of The Queen?"
