Puggy Comps?

Okay, so I physically painted one... and It kinda hate it...
It's also one of those nights when you don't really want to paint anymore... and yeah.
So I threw the one color comp and tried to show what I really intended for this...

Heres the unedited comp. (BLAND BLAND BLAND)

Slightly color corrected to show what I envisioned.

THE WILD CARD. Because I have a feeling the somewhat monochromatic pallet I want to go for won't fly...But whatever. I really want the the Mono-chrome to work.
SO IMA MAKE IT WORK... maybe. But I sort of like the feeling of this one too... hrm...

A Glimpse

A glimpse at probably one of the DUMBEST paintings I've ever done.
I do really like this loose color business I accidently did though.

If you don't know, Its Jack from LOST and I running away from SmokeyJohn
John Locke is in the painting too, he just needs some serious hand corrective surgery before I put him on the internet.

Stupid painting.... at least it makes me laugh, who knows maybe you'll laugh too.

Double Postin'

A project to accompany this poem:

On the pad of my thumb
are whorls. whirls, wheels
in a unique design:
mine alone.
What a treasure to own!My own flesh, my own feelings.
No other, how ever grand or base,
can ever contain the same.
My signature,
thumbing the pages of my time.
My universe key,
my singularity.
Impress, implant,I am my self
of all my atom parts I am the sum.
And out of my blood and my brain
I make my own sun and rain.
Imprint my mark upon the world
what ever I shall become.

Stephen Gardner: The Figure Drawing Saga

It's been an awful long time since I uploaded any work. It's unfortunately been due to an awful art slump. I've only just recently began turning it around... ever so slowly.
Every figure drawing class up until this week has been equally painful to rubbing my face with a hot iron and about a frustrating as nailing jello to a tree.
Though, this week proved to show some promise and fun.
Not to mention our new wonderful professor, Stephen Gardner! What a delightful surprise to find out he was taking over for Dorothy (though I miss Dorothy dearly and wish her my best).

Anyway, the class has been extremely fun and I can already see more strength my drawings. I'm enjoying it, its been unlike any other drawing class I've had.
Anywho here are some of the drawings I've done recently:

Crashinda* is fierce. I enjoy drawing her.
Anyway, I hope things continue to go upward.

With help from good friends and good professors I'm sure I can get through any stupid slumps.
YEAH TEAM FIT.

*I think her name is Grashinda or Crashinda... something shinda... shes good.

Beatles and Bison

Here are some recent projects I've finished!
I apologize for not updating with anything substantial in awhile.

These are projects for school, excluding Bison piece.

The lovely Beatles, Rendered in gouache. Our "Premier or Grand Opening" project.
I decided to depict the Beatles arrival in the states for the first time. :)

A few friends of mine and I were coming up with the various scenarios that went on in each others heads. Some of them were quite hilarious and were deemed worthy of an illustration. I will defiantly be doing more of these when I have the time. (This one will eventually be a hyper rendered oil painting as well.)
This is the mind of Alex Krokus (His blog can be viewed here:http://akrokus.blogspot.com/
In his mind, he is wild bison running merrily with giraffes as Old Glory flaps in the wind behind him.

Another piece for school. We had to design a beverage ad that advocated halloween parties and such.
I decided to base mine on the Dia de los Muertos celebration.
I started off with acrylic, and switched over to gouache. Oh dear, I need to escape from gouache.

Gouache and Graffiti

Mmm... I think I have a case of the crazy eyes in this picture.
Anyway, this is a reversed image of a gouache painting I did in color class last week. I'm pretty proud of it! I only wish I had more time to finish it!

Since break started, I have just been drawing graffiti for people. I liked them so I thought I'd post them, just as my good friend Emily McMahon did... her blog is: http://emilymcmahon.blogspot.com/

Oh, The Hazards of Love

"She being full of charity a credit to her sex
Sought to right the fawn's hind legs
When here her plans were vexed
The Taiga shifted strange
The beast began to change
Singing ...oh The Hazards of Love"

I finally got this back.
The assignment was to illustrate a song or a fairy tale. I chose the Decemberists (surprise, surprise!) Hazards of love I.

Heres a detail shot. Margaret looks like shes crying in pain instead of being... surprised. :/
ohhhhwell.

I want this year to hurry up and end already.

Color Class

"The Taiga shifted strange, the beast began to change."
Just a pulmonary drawing for a lyrics assignment in color class.
I've been on a Hazards of Love kick since it came out. I'm absolutely obsessed with the lyrics and the sheer masterful craftsmen ship of this album. So, i decided to illustrate a scene from the album for my project.

Stamp Project. Paint a famous landmark of the city. I chose the Mercury statue on top of Grand Central.

The hypothetical stamp sheet!
